Welcome Father Oliver

Father Oliver will begin visiting classes this Tuesday - we are so excited to have you in our school!

The Umbrella Project launched October 1st!

The Umbrella Project is a program that is used to help improve student, staff and family well being. It has been in existence for several years and data collected has shown significant improvement in mental health parameters such as emotional intelligence, adaptability, stress management and interpersonal skills. Our overriding message to students and families is that challenges are normal and an expected part of life and when our children face challenges, we allow them to develop lifelong coping strategies. The umbrella represents the skills we will learn and the rain represents the challenges. The power lies in building the umbrella skills to face challenges and our goal is to move away from "fix it for me" mindset to a felling of empowerment and a sense of control over our lives. When students believe stress is healthy they become stronger. What is so great about the program is that it provides a wraparound service that provides strategies, resources and support (on-line and in-person) for our entire community to incorporate well being strategies.

We will launch the umbrella skill for October which is empathy - the same as our virtue of the month - coincidence? I am adding the Welcome Video below:
